Online Childrens Books by Eileen Cupido
The Importance of Imagination
Listening to stories and fairy tales - especially before falling asleep and ideally under the twinkling night sky in Namibia with the mysterious yet calming sounds of darkness rocking me gently – belong to my most precious childhood memories… followed by the exhilarating joy and sense of independence the moment I was able to read myself and let my imagination spin without limits. . .
Needless to say, I was a so-called “bookworm” and as my waking hours were sharply watched, I continued with a torch under the blanket! Impossible to put a Karl May down – or any of those incredible adventure stories then… which today would equally go for any Harry Potter and other books.
Beautiful books with precious illustrations and pictures - whether for kids or grown people – are a passion for me and pulled me in professionally right away!
To this day I firmly believe that – contrary to watching passively TV with its prefabricated fictional stories - fairy tales and childrens books are critically important to form and further our imaginative and visualization capacities, which allows us to Dream… as well as develop a firm grounding and a healthy confidence within ourselves, our God-given powers and in Life itself.
“Cool Books” – the Online Newspaper by Eileen Cupido from South Africa
When Eileen – who is an experienced librarian with a special focus on childrens’ books – decided to focus her YORGOO Press Newspaper Blog on …
~ Kids Books,
~ Crafts for Children,
~ Advice for Parents,
~ Book Reviews,
~ presenting new Authors and
~ introducing charismatic storytellers,
I was thrilled as this is and will always be one of my own favorite themes… although I obviously see it more from the other side, meaning as an author, illustrator, storyteller.
I sincerely hope that Eileen will take the time to really develop this fantastic topic on an equally fabulous Semiomantics Script for the benefit of many small and big people! Let’s not forget that there is a lot of “old wisdom” in little people… and a child in any grownup that should never stop to Imagine and to Dream.
Good Luck and happy posting, Eileen! I hope that… one day… I hear one of those magic African story tellers taking me back under the Namibian skies. . . I just finished reading a book by one of them and there’s nothing like it…
And of course, there’s INDABA MY CHILDREN, the African Classic. . . oh, I could go on endlessly :)))
