Eating from my Garden – Boletus edulis
When good food gets scarce, there’s nothing better than turning inside and see what there is around us: there’s nothing better than eating from my garden!
Just as the last golden rays of the sun crept through the pine forest down here in Noordhoek, South Africa, I found the first Boletus edulis 2010 today! Autumn is definitely here… and like the squirrels I like to collect things for winter – be it grains, mushrooms or wood for the fireplace.
Eating from my Garden – Boletus edulis
One of the most exhilarating feelings is to have the privilege of eating something directly from my garden or the surrounding woods and mountains, something I discovered, collected carefully, brought home with sandy hands, cleaned, prepared in a little butter, salt, freshly ground pepper and juice from lemons in my garden…. and ate! Slowly. . . getting the full taste and enjoying the uniqueness of the moment… like Nature’s caress.
And as everything is a matter of shape – here we have some 30 cm … it’s what I call a sumptious meal!
