First Video with Digital Camera

“First Video with Digital Camera” sounds almost a little pompous, however, it’s true! So far I never touched Video on my NIKON Coolpix P90 as I am pretty focused on improving my photographic skills… and that keeps me busy enough.

Also, I believed that either I take photos or I do a video… however, the fact is that digital cameras have good lenses and the quality can be very good. So I am teachable. . .

First Video with Digital Camera

I took my more or less 45 second first video with a Digital Camera under the harshest conditions: no light, heavy storms and pouring rains – see the picture above dark before 6 pm!

But homework is homework…. so I looked for the most sheltered window to get a view towards the mountains – and as I opened the tiny window a wasp’s nest dropped right in front of me on the balcony.

Of course, it immediately caught my attention and here is the result of my first ever video with my digital camera: running wasps… meaning wasps running for shelter… just as any normal person or four-paw would do during such lousy weather. MadMax is curled up on my lap and categorically refuses to leave it. . . lots to learn from cats!

As to the ‘movie clip’ – you hear the storm roaring and you see the winterly ambience in the picture I quickly took as an introductory shot as I just didn’t yet get the hang of the new Movie Maker as I had it with the old one… with time lines, audio lines and the like. It was just closer to film editing and I did some nice work there a while ago. Here it seems Mickey Mouse with less options – or I just have to find the secret buttons… for which I don’t have the time today.

Winter is here, in Noordhoek South Africa

I edited the total length to 28 seconds and got non-stop ‘plugin’ errors from YouTube when trying to upload directly from Movie Maker. So what’s new!

I closed down pretty everything, especially also VOIP… then logged into my YouTube account, determined to get this loaded and published. Finally… I got there. It showed in lousy quality, telling me that it wasn’t processed yet. I waited patiently and finally my 28 seconds deal looks not great but viewable … and if these wasps were extinct and of that particular holographic substance the whole world was after, these 28 seconds would be a hit… see, it’s always a matter of value and perspective!

As such… they are just poor little freezing wasps running for shelter – as I did!

Noordhoek South Africa must brace itself: Winter is here!
