Better Digital Photography 2010 with Active Scripts
When I started off with Adobe Photoshop 5 many years back, there was no Digital Photography around and I knew a lot about Movie Scripts but I certainly had never heard about “Active Scripts”.
When I became totally Internet-oriented in 2003, the picture quality was so lousy – if not painfully shocking compared to what I had been used to in Europe’s top Advertising and Film Industry – that my enthusiasm was on a spare flame, reduced to producing mainly the countless pictures, banners and ads for YORGOO, YCADEMY and related.
All this changed dramatically in 2009.
Mweb Scrap Internet Charge
Today, I am absolutely thrilled by the enormous evolution of technology and how media are embracing the Internet, streaming becomes better and even down here in Noordhoek, South Africa we will see better times one day as I read in the South African news on Friday here (quote):
MWEB wants all internet service providers and network providers to agree to carry traffic free of charge over each other’s networks. The company on Wednesday declared its willingness to conclude free exchange agreements with other ISPs and said discussions around this had already started. Free transfer agreements are the global norm. CE RUDI JANSEN says oopen exchange is an important step in creating an affordable, efficient internet market in SA, and would give consumers a better internet experience and break the stranglehold that a few large players currently have on the rest of the market. JANSEN says SA has a poorly developed exchange infrastructure and most of the large internet access providers charge excessive fees to carry traffic to and from their networks. The more open and fair interconnection becomes, the more growth the industry will see as a consequence of increased competition, and both consumers and enterprises will benefit. TELKOM’s rental tariff for the line that connects consumers’ premises with their nearest exchange still makes up the largest part of a user’s interconnect charges. Until this network is thrown open, the extent to which ISPs can reduce internet costs to the market is limited.”
Better Digital Photography 2010 with Active Scripts
Those of us who are really determined to improve their pictures, photos, images and with it publishing and media skills… and who don’t want to reinvent the wheel…, include in their learning how to get to better Digital Photography 2010 with Active Scripts.
Last Friday, we focused on a specific script that I described in the corresponding post. Even an Action Script has its own temperament and needs to be understood and correctly applied. One can even plan it in for post-editing… and while the picture I took of an absolute Harley Davidson freak was gorgeous, I tested the new Action Script on his face with the above result. My second shot with that new ‘blur’ script.
Note: I intended to show the effect on a large scale – howeverl, unless I want to have such an effect for some good reason, I would never use it as such but play with it very sensitively to give a photo an extra edge that makes it just great without giving it an artificial twist.
You may have seen quite a number of pictures where I applied this art working my way through the different settings and filters in Photoshop myself… so I know what it takes to get there. But I like the surprise effect when the action just zooms through and I get a quick result. I can still decide whether I like it or not, change and adapt it or kick it out and do it myself. . . but I was very impressed by the high quality of this particular script – that’s not always the case!
